Attendance Matters:

All Day, Every Day

Starting as early as preschool and kindergarten, regular attendance is essential for students gaining the academic and social skills they need to thrive. Research shows that when students are chronically absent (missing 10% or more of the school year or 18 days over an entire year), they are less likely to read proficiently by third grade, achieve in middle school, and graduate from high school. Attendance Matters Poster Contest Finalists

The finalists for the Attendance Matters Poster Contest are here! Thank you to all of our schools who participated and shared the art created by their amazingly talented students. The winners will be named on Monday, Nov. 13, during the regular meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Education.

We all benefit when children have the opportunity to gain skills and abilities that prepare them for success in school, work, and life. The good news is that efforts to improve engagement and attendance can benefit all of us, because we all prosper when children and youth have the opportunity to gain skills and abilities that prepare them for success in school, work and life.

How can we help?

Connecting with Your School

Student success begins with regular attendance. It is the foundation for developing strong academic performance, reaching graduation, and developing good work habits.

Remember, ANY absence not reported to a student's school is an unexcused absence!

Please connect with the school anytime a student is absent for any reason.
