Randy Trenary

Jefferson County Schools (JCS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Randy Trenary as the district's new Transportation Director, effective July 1, 2025. Mr. Trenary brings over 30 years of experience in public education, working in classrooms and operations, and a deep commitment to student safety and operational excellence.

Mr. Trenary currently serves as the Director of Operations for Clarke County Public Schools, overseeing transportation, maintenance, custodial services, safety and security, and capital projects. He is well known for his success in improving operational efficiency, optimizing transportation routing, and realizing significant cost savings.

"Randy Trenary's wealth of experience and commitment to operational excellence will be a tremendous asset to Jefferson County Schools," said Jefferson County Schools Superintendent. "We are thrilled to welcome him to the team."

Mr. Trenary has already met with the JCS transportation staff, engaging in a meet-and-greet to build relationships and learn the nuances of the district's operations.

"I've always heard about the great things happening at Jefferson County Schools," said Trenary. "I'm honored to join such a dedicated team and look forward to continuing the tradition of safe, efficient transportation for our students."

A graduate of Shepherd University with a degree in Physical Education, Mr. Trenary holds a Virginia Class B Commercial Driver's License and is ALICE Safety Training certified. He lives with his wife of 28 years, Kelley. They have three children, all of whom are pursuing careers in education.
