Wednesday, February 11 is all about the accessories - so show off your bling, STARS!

Good afternoon North Jefferson Elementary families. Each year we ask parents, students in grades 3-5, and staff to complete the West Virginia School Learning Environment Survey (WVSLES). We use this information to improve our school environment and connections with families. Attached find information about this survey and the QR code and link to open the survey. This information will also be posted on our school website.
Information about the Grades 3-5 Student Survey will be sent home today and tomorrow. Parents can complete this form if they do not want their child to participate in the survey. We ask these opt out forms be returned to us by 2/17/2026.
Thank you for your support of North Jefferson Elementary School.
Respectfully,
Joyce Ashworth, NJES Principal
I would like to correct a mistake on the calendar. Next week is the week of the Friendship Festival and Dance! The school store will be open in the mornings, and during lunch, with items for sale from $0.50 to $5.00. Funds raised from the friendship festival will support the future NJES Outdoor Pavilion! Monday is Pajama Day!
Thank you,
Dear North Jefferson Families,
We are excited to launch a schoolwide attendance challenge called:
⭐ Star Students Strive for Five! ⭐
Our goal is to have 95% of students at school on five different days between now and the end of April. When almost everyone is here, learning is stronger, routines are smoother, and our school community shines.
To build early momentum, we will have special “rally days.”
On these days, we encourage every family to make attendance a priority so we can reach our 95% goal together.
📅 Our first rally day is February 12 (the day of the Friendship Dance!).
We are aiming to have as many students as possible at school that day so we can earn our first star toward our schoolwide celebration.
Every day counts, and your partnership truly makes a difference. Thank you for helping our Stars show up strong!
⭐ Star Students…
STRIVE FOR FIVE! ⭐
-If you have any questions related to attendance or community resources, please reach out to addison.tucker@k12.wv.us
Happy 100 Days, NJES!

Neither rain, nor sleet nor snow will keep us from celebrating the 100th day of school! Congratulations on making it this far, STARS!
Wednesday, February 4th we are celebrating the 100th day of school. We encourage students to come to school dressed as if they are 100 years old! Join us in a day of fun and silliness while we pass this milestone.

Our parent drop off /pick up loop is down to one lane at this time. Please be patient as you wait to drop off and pick up your children. We will continue to clear the ice/snow over the next few days.
Thank you!
Joyce Ashworth
As most of us know, along with cold weather comes unexpected illness, and sometimes it can be hard to know when you should and should not send your child to school. here is an easy checklist you can use to help you responsibly make that call!

We prepared for this first remote day by sending home packets for our students in Grades K-2 and Chromebooks with our students in grades 3 -5.
Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher via Rooms or k12 email if your child was absent on 1/23/26 or if you need guidance for the work that is to be completed on this remote learning day.
We look forward to seeing our student back in North Jefferson Elementary school next week!
Hello NJES Families,
Today, your child is bringing home a Book Buddy Lanyard letting you know about a safe and easy way for our school to raise funds for essential tools our students and teachers need to succeed.
The SchoolStore Program is 100% online, so there is NO face-to-face selling, handling money, or delivering products. Your participation will take less than 12 minutes, and there are exciting prizes to make it fun for the students.
Here is all you need to do to participate:
1. Go to https://www.schoolstore.net/sid.t?0000010071 to sign up.
2. Send emails inviting family, friends and co-workers to support your child.
3. Return the Book Buddy Lanyard with the Student Prize Code to school for your child to get their fun participation prize.
Be sure to ask your child for the Book Buddy Lanyard tonight. Your participation will make a difference for our school and teachers!
Thank you for supporting NJES!
Your child's report card included how many days they have been absent from school so far this year. Reminder: chronic absenteeism includes both excused and unexcused absences. This indicates whether or not your child is at risk socially and/or academically. If you want to talk more about your child's absence number, what that means, or brainstorm ways to avoid future absences, please email or call Addison Tucker at addison.tucker@k12.wv.us or (304) 725-9587 Ext.5361
As always, thank you for your effort towards your child's education!

Good morning North Jefferson families. Report cards are coming home with students today. i-Ready Family Reports from our middle of the year testing are also coming home today.
Parent-Teacher Conferences are being scheduled for next Tuesday, January 13th. Please reach out to your child's teacher if you did not receive a copy of this form.
Did you know that for the last nine weeks, all the classrooms competed for best attendance? Our three classroom winners were: Ms. Traci Davis's class, Ms. Shelton's class, and Mrs. Harvey's class! Their rooms get a classroom trophy to keep until the end of next nine weeks, as well as a banner over their doorway to celebrate them! This semester, help your student's classroom win for best attendance by committing to being at school every day!

Good morning. This evening is our Shine Together event. Please join us as we create crafts, sing songs, and enjoy hot chocolate and cookies!
Please enter the building through Door 3 (Parent Pick Up/Drop Off/Pre-K entrance) and sign in.
We look forward to seeing you!
Respectfully,
Joyce Ashworth
NJES Principal
