Our school spirit was strong this week! SJES’ purple and gold shone bright during American Education Week! We love our school! 💜💛

Our Roadrunners displayed their WV pride this week! Let’s gooooooo! 💙💛

South Jefferson’s students’ futures are so bright, they have to wear shades. 😎
#AmericanEducationWeek

Hat Day was all about appreciation—“tipping our hats” to the incredible people who support our school community every day! You make a difference and we are grateful for you! The school spirit at South Jefferson is off the charts!

What better way to celebrate American Education Week than recognizing 4th grader, Gunnar Bartosiewicz, who received not one, but TWO Positive Office Referrals! This is a first at SJES! Gunnar was nominated by Mrs. Shearer for taking the time to help a fellow classmate with the recorder in music class, showing patience, kindness and compassion. He was also nominated by Mrs. Sunday for his leadership in the classroom and for always being an awesome SJES citizen. Way to go, Gunnar!
🥳

We had a blast in our pajamas today, kicking off American Education Week at SJES! From flashlight reading, to reading to our favorite stuffies, all Roadrunners brought the spirit today! 📚💛💜

In our library, students enjoyed a captivating, hands-on experience by witnessing the transformation of caterpillars into butterflies over a three‐week period. To select a student from each class to release the butterflies, we organized a rock‐paper‐scissors tournament, adding an extra element of fun to the lesson.

Our September and October Employees of the Month! We are so lucky to have Mrs. Mangum teaching our 3rd graders and Mrs. Chrisman taking care of all of us from the front office. Congratulations! Well deserved!

We are grateful for the following students who were our Read-a-Thon Top Readers and Top Fundraisers! The winners were awarded $25 in books from the PTO and got to select their own books. Way to go Gianluca, Elaina, Addison, Gael, Jamison, Quincy, Joseph, Bayne, Victoria, and Ryder (not pictured)!

These coats and sweatshirts desperately miss their homes and would like to be found instead of lost.
If they belong to you, please shout from the rooftops and let us know that the item belongs to you. Please don’t expect your children to know that the item belongs to them because I’ve been asking for two weeks and they have no idea.
Thank you! 😊

Wesley Pauley is our latest recipient of a Positive Office Referral. Wesley was nominated by Mrs. Labrie after Wesley jumped right in to assist her when she was busy trying to accomplish a task. It’s moments like these, when you help others without being asked, that show who you really are as a person. Thank you, Wesley, for your kindness and help!

Douglas is a third grader here at South Jefferson Elementary. He has always loved playing outside, shooting basketball and throwing football. After many exams and tests at the Children's National Hospital in Washington, D.C., he was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Douglas was able to start treatments right away and is now in the second phase of treatment. We miss him terribly and are happy to be running for him and all the other children that get care at Children's National Hospital. #DouglasStrong

Who’s ready for more Positive Office Referrals???! I LOVE receiving these and sharing all of the positive and kind things that are happening at SJES. Congratulations to Victoria Bowman (4th grade) was nominated because she is ALWAYS willing to help others in class. A huge shout out to James Siddoway (2nd grade) for his quick problem-solving skills and leadership! Well done, Kyle McCampbell (3rd grade), for always being kind and respectful in class! Way to go, Bentley Duvall (3rd grade), for your work ethic and kindness. So proud of all of you and glad you are a part of the SHES family! 💛💜

These awesome 3rd graders were nominated by their teachers for their hard work in class, their compassion for others, the way that they show compassion for classmates and are such good friends to others. I’m super proud of these four students—their teachers selected incredible SJES role models! Well done, Violet, Marcus, Nathan and Hollie! 💛💜

We love visiting Orr’s Farm and pumpkin patch with our kindergarten students! It is always a fun day for them and creates such fun memories. Thank you to our K team for your organizing of the trip and for our parents who volunteered to chaperone! 🎃💜💛
